Please join us for a lunch-time exhibition opening on Friday, April 5, at 12:00 noon of Finding the Spirit of Inanga: A Gallery of African Musical Instruments, a project curated by music graduate student Chance Kinyange. A collaborative effort between Providence, RI-based PVD World Music Institute and Wesleyan’s World Music Archives & Music Library, Finding the Spirit of Inanga is a series of exhibits and events showcasing African musical instruments, audio, video, and related archival materials from Wesleyan University collections.
At the opening event in Smith Reading Room, first floor Olin Library, Chance Kinyange will give an introduction to the exhibit and perform with Gideon Ampiere MA’11. Attendees can then tour the exhibit areas in the basement of Olin Library, the AV exhibit space in the first floor east corridor, and the Music Library lobby on the third floor. A light lunch from Middletown’s Abyssinian Ethiopian Restaurant will be provided. RSVP required here.
